About Brooke

I stumbled into this field on my path to healing from complex childhood trauma and attachment wounds in my family of origin. It was a next logical step on my quest to understand myself, my relationships, and my family. This work deeply fulfills the calling I feel to help others find relief, create repair where possible, and restore their sense of self. If you’re contemplating starting your therapy journey, are looking to go deeper into healing your trauma, or need a safe space to process all that life is throwing your way - reach out and let’s chat about how I can help you.

Experience

I’ve been working in the field of mental health and psychological research since 2012. My initial experience was in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital where I worked with pediatric patients facing acute psychiatric crises. At the same time, I assisted in research on infant development and recognition of beauty at Seattle Pacific University in their Infant Lab. As a graduate student I worked in the public school system providing school based counseling services to elementary aged students. I utilized play and art therapy to support children facing difficulty with anxiety, depression, family dysfunction, academic difficulties, and poverty. Later in graduate school, I worked in foster care and adoptions in Los Angeles County supporting families looking to become certified resource families or adopt children in the foster care system.

Once I received my Master of Social Work (MSW), I worked in an Intensive Outpatient Program for young people from the ages of 13-24 and their families. I provided individual, group, multiple family group, and family therapy to client’s with complex trauma, family dysfunction, substance abuse disorder, and co-morbid psychiatric disorders.

I am certified in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the Personal Transformation Institute. I’ve completed advanced training and supervision in EMDR for both in-person and virtual therapy.

I’ve worked in a multitude of treatment settings and populations throughout my career but I firmly believe nothing is more impactful than lived experience. I bring every lesson learned, healed wound, and insight gained into the therapeutic relationship. Together we can find a better way forward.
